Memoir

Good morning ladies!

I’m sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. It has been a rough week for me to say the least. I’ve been sick, tired, stressed and so many other things, but I just keep praying for God’s peace and strength! J

Today I wanted to challenge you all to do something for me, but mostly for yourselves. If you had to write your memoir in 6 words what would they be? Example: “Kind hearted nurturing strong loving woman” , I’m not saying that’s mine because I’m still challenging myself to come up with a 6 word bio, but just take a couple of minutes to think of 6 words to describe who you TRULY are. …be completely honest with yourself because no one else is there to judge you.

Now that you’ve taken some time to think of your 6 word bio ask yourself these two questions: First, is this how the people closest to you would describe you? Second, is this how God sees you? That’s pretty powerful huh? I know when I read this study I was thinking, WOW would my own personal opinion of myself match up with what others would say about me? More importantly, would it match up with what God would say?

I’ll be completely honest and tell you that God still has A LOT of work to do on me. I have struggles every day, just like everyone else that I want to change and make better. But it would be nice to get to the point in my life where my 6 word bio matched not only what others would say, but what God would say about me. I still haven’t been able to think of the perfect 6 words to describe me. I get caught up in trying to use words that I think will look good on paper, but I stop myself from using them because those words are where I want to be, but not where I am. I wish that my 6 word bio could be like David’s “A man after MY own heart” (1 Sam.13:14; Acts 13:22).

None of us are perfect and God loves us for who we are at this very point in our lives, but he also wants us to live our lives to please him. He holds us at a higher standard than he does the nonbelievers and every day we should be taking steps to let go of self and to be more like Jesus. We have to stop focusing so much on our desires and focus on what God is trying to do in our lives. (I will get into this next week!)

My challenge for all of you today, including myself, is to figure out what your 6 word memoir/bio would be and then ask yourself would God agree and would he approve. If you answered no to either of these then you know you have some work to do, which I’m pretty sure we all fall in that category. J  Please check out John 1:1-14, it’s the wonderful scripture that went along with this lesson in my daily bread.

“Lord, help me to be what YOU want me to be

 In character, actions, and will,

For you are the potter and I am the clay---

Your purposes I would fulfill.”  -Fitzhugh

I’m excited to meet you ladies tomorrow!!!

Stay encouraged, inspired and motivated today and help someone else do the same! J

  1. Not perfect but you trust God. My baby this your bio to me. And the more you grow God will tell you your six words. Mine I pray...Trusting, God and willing to serve.

  2. First I want to say thank you for the invitation. I had a wonderful time and am inspired. I believe for now my six words are "passionate, fun loving, caring, happy woman"

I have no doubt that God will show me different things at different times and my six words will inevitably change.
