This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Yesterday was a beautiful day but it is gone. You could not bring that day back and experience it again no matter how much you enjoyed it. Rather it was the weather you enjoyed, church, family, or friends today is certainly a new day, so it is time for new experiences with God. Today we will be speaking about another part of our armor in the battle for our lives, and although we are in a battle it does not mean we cannot experience peace. If you have not read Ephesians chapter 6:13-17, you need to read the word of God it speaks about your armor in order for you to gear up before you do anything. Ladies and I do mean anything else, before you wake your kids up for school- gear up, before you make your spouse breakfast gear up, and certainly before you leave out the door for wherever you're going- gear up.
You know I read in Colossians 3:15, "Let the PEACE of GOD rule in your hearts." Well ladies in order to get the peace of God you how need to learn about peace and what God has to say about his peace. Lets take the next journey with God- gear up ladies we actually get to put on some armor most of us love shop for 'shoes'. The next part of the armor states: having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. During the Roman Soldiers time their shoes-sandals were made very well to endure battle. Their sandals were called caliga - these sandals were studded heavily with nails they were called hobnails, and were firmly placed directly through the sole of the shoe. Just think of it now are the craftsmen making our shoes durable, sturdy, or they just making them cute? Today ladies we are still going to be cute in our minds and even in our appearance. However, spiritually we have our Roman sandals on because we need durability and stability when the enemy attempts to knock us off our feet to knock the wind out of us. The sandals that you are wearing ladies are kinda like cleats, it would help the soldier to stay stable so he would not be slipping, he would be steadfast and not easily moved on the battle field.
You know how we are now those cleats (sandals) are not dug in deep into the soil, so when stipulations happens such as: career failing, no money in the bank, kids acting crazy, and daddy is crazy for leaving me with the kids lol. So what happens we are knocked off our feet and the wind in knocked out of us we feel powerless. Well let me make it clear those shoes are the Gospel of Peace, and I need to tell you ladies how to strap them own; because ladies we are already victorious in this battle we just need to walk it out in peace. Have you ever had the experience that when everything around you was in chaos you were in perfect peace? If so than that my sister is having on the right shoes the Gospel of Peace shoes. Do you want to keep them shoes on and never take them off, and do you know it is possible but that means digging into God's word. Lets go find some treasure because as God word say, were your treasure is there your heart will be also. First, let me give you an illustration that I read which was so wonderful about peace.
There were two painters and they were told that they would win $ 250,000 dollars for the best portrait that portrayed PEACE. Of course both men excited went and started on their master piece the first artist painted a serene portrait of a lake with the sun glistening off it at just the right angle so that it sparkled across the top of the water. A shepherd walked near the lake with sheep following him at a distance. Trees stood off to one side of the lake with birds gathered in their tallest branches. After finishing his painting, the painter leaned back and took a deep breath of satisfaction. In his mind, he had portrayed peace.
The second painter had a different idea in mind when he painted his portrait. In his painting, the sky was pitch black. Lightning shot through the air in zigzagged movements. This painter also had water, but the waves in his painting thrashed as if they were somehow awakened from a terrible dream. Tress bent and bowed down in the wind. The painting looked like a portrait of chaos. But when you looked closely at the second artist's painting, all the way down to the bottom on the left-hand side, just near the very edge of this horrific scene, you could see a little bird standing on a rock. The little bird had its mouth open, as if singing a beautiful song. One faint light shone down from the darkness of the clouds onto the bird as it sung in spite of the situation all around it. Ladies who won this competition?
The second painter won. The judges chose him as the winner because he showed the truest manifestation of peace- a peace that resonates from within despite what's going on all around. Peace doesn't refer to an inner calm when all around you is calm. When you are surrounded by tranquility, you are supposed to be calm. When you experience godly peace, you are at rest even when everything else is wrong. One of my favorite scriptures is above and the one below, and you ladies have a blessed day and bless others. Keep those peace shoes on no matter what is going on around you, you are in Jesus hands and he said no one can pluck you out.
John 14:27
27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
